MEET LBTU HORTICULTURE INDUSTRY RESEARCHERS!

The opportunity to participate in educational theoretical and practical activities, get acquainted with the laboratories, see the experiments and gardens of the Institute of Horticulture.

Main activities:

  • theoretical and practical cognitive process about soil, light and water;
  • the ability to create a painting from different leaf shapes;
  • get to know the composition of vegetables, berries and fruits with the help of various activities, as well as evaluate the differences in varieties;
  • practical introduction to how different tree trunks are and what they tell us
  • the opportunity to make sure of how clean everything we use is;
  • getting to know what extraction and chromatography are and getting to know the lab's little helpers
  • mushrooms around us - what are mushrooms, where are they found, their role in the ecosystem, medicine and industry;
  • what is DNA and how is it used in research;
  • meet the breeder Pēteris Upītis.

N.B. From 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., the event is only available when applying for a visit in groups (by writing to e-mail agnija.berke@llu.lv or by calling phone no. 25450555; when applying for groups, the desired time will be suggested and agreed upon, if several groups overlap at the same time). We will wait for all the other visitors from 17:00-21:00.

  • Fields of research: agricultural, forest and veterinary sciences; agricultural and fisheries sciences, forestry; horticulture Engineering and technology; other engineering sciences and technologies, including food and beverage technologies; quality of food products, food chemistry.
  • Location: Graudu street 1, Ceriņi, Krimūnu parish, Dobele county
  • Language of the event: Latvian. If there is an English-speaking visitor, individual attention will be given whenever possible to engage the visitor in the activities.
