The goal of the Space education center is to create interest in the STEM study among young people and get to know their connection with the rapidly growing space industry.

In order to achieve our goal, three target groups have been defined for the center - the learner, the teacher and the family. A separate offer has been created for each of the target groups. Lessons linked to the learning standard for students, current affairs in the world and their connection with innovative pedagogical methods for teachers and meaningful, educational time spent for the family.

For the realization of the cognitive process the center offers an educational exhibition, classrooms, as well as a laboratory and activities for all target groups.

Educational programme

The Space education center offers an educational exhibition, educational programs for educators and learners, as well as activities for families.

Exposition of the Space education center

The exposition of the center will include a story and activities about the independent aspiration of mankind to explore new horizons and necessary resources for that.

During the activities, the visitor of the center is given the opportunity to choose the direction of the future development of the space industry:

  • Space exploration to make Earth observations meant to improve life on Earth;
  • The space industry as an opportunity for humans to colonize other planets;
  • The space industry as an answer to the question of the beginning of everything.

Each choice visitor can experience by participating in practical activities and acquiring theoretical knowledge.

The conditions on other planets of the solar system are studied by exploring center exposition, in the professional improvement programs of teachers, as well as in the programs for students and families, thereby revealing the uniqueness of the planet Earth and drawing attention to environmental issues.

The exposition consists of more than 50 educational exhibits, which are located on three floors of the center. Each exhibit includes a link to an educational standard.

Orbital station "Auseklis"

The exhibit orbital station "Auseklis" allows the visitor to feel the everyday life of an astronaut. In the modules on the second floor of the exhibit, daily activities on the orbital station are explored and compared to daily activities on Earth. The modules of the third floor of this exhibit are designed for performing adventure missions, which include solving problem situations using the skills of biology, physics, mathematics, as well as development of transversal skills.

Curriculum for learners

Curricula include the learning of topics related to educational standards using the space theme. The programs include the acquisition of knowledge in mathematics, physics, programming, engineering, as well as the absorbation of transversal skills.

Professional development programs

The space industry combines all the skills of the 21st century, from digital literacy to collaboration skills. Educators themselves have the opportunity to improve their skills in 3d modeling, programming and the use of other prototyping equipment, as well as learn and implement the lessons created by the Space education center and implemen tose in their educational institutions.

Teaching laboratory

Learning laboratories are designed according to the FabLab principle and are able to provide young people with the opportunity to perform various prototyping work, as well as use 3d printing, milling and other prototyping workbenches. In the laboratory there are activities with the construction of CanSat (student learning satellite) as well as other school projects.
