The Central Finance and Contracts Agency (CFLA) has announced an open selection of projects, inviting scientific institutions and the Latvian Science Council to apply for funding from European Union (EU) funds to support already developed research projects.
This program, prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science, is intended to provide synergy mechanisms with other EU research programs, including refinancing the projects evaluated above the quality threshold in the reserve of the "Horizon Europe" program. Namely, it is expected that the financing of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will support such projects, which have already obtained an assessment above the quality threshold in the "Horizon Europe" program and the EU's 10th framework program for research and innovation, but have not received funding.
The ERDF funding available for this purpose is 11.5 million euros, which will be able to cover up to 85% of the total eligible costs of the project. It is intended that support will be granted to finance a project submitted to both programs of the European Commission, without evaluating its scientific quality, but funding will be allocated to projects in the order of their submission, as long as funding is available. The deadline for submitting project applications is until December 31, 2026.
Support from EU funds is intended for the EU Cohesion Policy Program 2021-2027. within the second round of the event "Full participation of Latvia in the Horizon Europe program, including providing a range of complex support instruments and linking with the development of RIS3 specialization areas" of the specific support goal for 2018 "Strengthening research and innovation capacity and introduction of advanced technologies in the common R&D system".
CFLA invites potential project applicants to a webinar on program conditions and project submission preparation on September 18.
