Latvian research is closely related to EU-level’s short-term and long-term development strategies. Research priorities in Latvia are aligned with the planned EU research goals, missions and especially with Horizon Europe and other programs. It is a challenge-based model characterized by reversibility, inclusion and openness.
We are building a stable and strong national research environment, enabling international and public-private partnerships to emerge. Within it the number of innovations is growing, and more opportunities for cooperation and mobility are emerging. Our unique position allows us to create knowledge and value within the region and within the EU, as well as through historical relations with the CIS countries.
Extending our European heritage with a focus on integrated research and value creation, our further goal is to build a knowledge society – one that benefits from knowledge, learning and the practical application of all forms of knowledge. The knowledge society is the foundation on which a strong state and a mature democracy rests, by developing public participation and critical thinking.
