Applications for the Baltic States Scholarship for Women in Research are open until July 5

The Academies of Sciences of the Baltic States in cooperation with the UNESCO national commissions announce a joint scholarship competition for women researchers "Baltic Scholarship for Women in Research 2024". In Latvia three female researchers will receive a scholarship in the amount of 7,000 euros by evaluating their performance so far and promoting further research. Applications for the scholarship are open until July 5.

In all Baltic countries, two scholarships will be awarded in the field of natural sciences, engineering and technology, medicine and health research - one for a doctoral candidate and one for a doctor of research. In addition, in Estonia one scholarship will be awarded to a Doctor of Science in the field of social sciences, and in Latvia and Lithuania - one scholarship to a Doctor of Science in the field of social sciences and humanities each.

Applications can be submitted both by young female researchers who are currently studying for a doctorate or working on their doctoral thesis at universities or research institutions in the Baltic States, as well as by female researchers who have obtained a doctorate degree no earlier than seven years ago and are working in one of the universities or research institutions of the Baltic States.

The aim of the joint scholarship is to support female researchers so that they can build a career in the field of scientific research in the Baltic States: the national competitions are intended to evaluate and provide support to the best young female researchers in the Baltic States in their pursuit of excellence in research, as well as to popularize the achievements of young female researchers and encourage the most talented female students to choose the profession of a researchers.

The scholarship competition in Latvia is organized by the Latvian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO and the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Scholarship applicants are invited to submit applications by filling out the application form which can be confirmed with a valid electronic signature, and sending it to the e-mail address BVstipendija2024@lza.lv by July 5, 2024.
