The Institute of Electronics and Computer Science
About event
From 17.00-22.00 the Institute of Electronics and Computer Sciences (EDI) will demonstrate its inventions and current research results, there will be an opportunity to see a self-driving car, smart clothing, etc.
Those interested in all age groups will have the opportunity to get to know the researchers and their work, as well as ask questions, for example: how can one become a researcher? What skills are needed to become a researcher? In order to consolidate the acquired knowledge, you will have the opportunity to engage in various activities yourself.
We invite everyone to follow the news on the EDI website www.edi.lv and on the social site Facebook.
N.B. Registration for the event is not required, the number of visitors is not limited. The Institute, in cooperation with the Institute of Wood and Chemistry, can accept 1-2 groups of students in the period from 14.00-16.00 (to ensure that the widest possible number of Latvian students can get to know the scientific Institutes, this time EDI invites groups of high school students from the regions to apply (we can provide 2 excursions)), those interested please contact the contact person.

EDI was founded in 1960 within the framework of the Latvian Academy of Sciences and is currently a national research institute that conducts fundamental and applied research in the fields of "Information and Communication Technologies" and "Smart Materials, Technologies and Engineering Systems" of the Latvian Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS3).
In its activity, EDI strives to become a European recognized research center in the fields of electronics, computer science, information technology and related engineering sciences, whose main research directions are related to the creation of such integrated systems for signal registration, data retrieval, processing and transmission. Creating systems includes a wide range of activities, incl. development of signal recording and data retrieval methods, as well as appropriate hardware and software.
In the international evaluation of the activity of research institutions, which was carried out in Latvia in 2014, EDI's performance was assessed by experts as excellent or good, and the Institute is the only national scientific institution in the field of engineering, which in this evaluation was evaluated as a high-level, strong and internationally important institution.
