In her report, the ministry representative emphasized Latvia’s support for a rules-based international order and expressed satisfaction with Latvia’s readiness to join the treaty on the principles governing state activities in the exploration and use of outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies, in 2025.

Latvia is also actively engaged in the development of the space sector, both through cooperation with the European Union and participation in international networks and projects. Latvia supports the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda and will continue working towards the sustainable use of space.

Cooperation in space traffic, debris, and resource management is essential to ensure a safe and sustainable future. Latvia is committed to continuing this path alongside its international partners.

During her visit, Lana Frančeska Dreimane also met with Latvia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Raimonds Oškalns. At the end of the day, she discussed ways to strengthen and develop future collaboration with the Director of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), Aarti Holla-Maini.
