The Latvian Science Council announces the second open competition for the national research program "Development of Research Defined in the Priority Actions for Biodiversity," under the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development. This is based on Section 17 of the Cabinet of Ministers' Regulation No. 560 of September 4, 2018, “Procedure for Implementing National Research Program Projects.”
Program Goals and Funding
The main goal of the program is to promote the development of new knowledge and solutions to align nature conservation with socioeconomic interests in changing climate conditions. It aims to establish a basis for conservation measures to ensure the favorable conservation status defined in the law for species and habitats.
The total available funding for this competition is €576,600, allocated for the implementation of two projects:
- €167,400 for tasks related to optimizing the spatial connectivity of EU importance species and habitats;
- €409,200 for tasks related to habitat dynamics, climate change, and ecosystem service evaluation.
