In August, lead researcher Rihards Novickis and research assistant Andrejs Cvetkovs at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen, integrated electronics developed by EDI and with components built by foreign partners.
These electronics include special diamonds. As a result of the integration, the electronics developed at EDI were tested with quantum sensor heads designed by partners at EDI, Friedrich-Alexander University (Germany) and ARQUIMEA research (Spain). The change in electron spin* as a function of magnetic field measured using the optically detectable resonance spectrum method.
The integration of the sensor components provided important information for further electronics development and is an important step towards realising the project’s intended applications: underground localisation and motor control.
*Spin is a characteristic of an electron that determines its interaction with other electrons and magnetic fields. Spin is one of the most important properties determining the behaviour of electrons in atoms and materials.
