Water management is no game, but it can be exciting! As we approach the November 18th holiday, we present the "Water Circus," developed as part of the “GYPREG” project, where you'll encounter key water management challenges and success stories in Latvia at every step.
Be careful, as some paths may lead to issues like water pollution, which reduces the services provided by ecosystems. On the other hand, smart and sustainable water management can help you reach the summit! Almost every square in the game will take you to an ongoing project in Latvia:
- You’ll get to know Latvian gypsum and how it can help reduce phosphorus runoff from agricultural lands.
- You’ll find out whether it’s safe to drink from Latvia’s springs or if it’s better to choose tap water.
- You’ll be able to follow a unique floating island project and other current topics!
The game is based on the theme of the popular global game "Circus." Print it out and play! You can use any small object as a player token, and if you don't have dice, many free mobile apps are available. Be creative! https://ej.uz/udens-cirks
If you want to get a printout of the game in a 3×3 meter size for your own use, contact the Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology!
The game was created by the Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology as part of the Interreg Baltic Sea Programme project "Reducing Phosphorus Load from Agricultural Lands by Improving Soil (GYPREG)" with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund. The program’s lead institution is not responsible for how the information included in the game is used.
