The Summer School of the Association of Young Researchers of Latvia (LJZA) brought together more than 50 young researchers and students from various fields, as well as 20 guest lecturers from Latvia and abroad. The summer school covered topics important for the career development of any researcher and the creation of a productive scientific environment: scientific publishing practices, academic integrity, research communication and commercialization, international cooperation and formation of scientific groups, as well as stress management and professional burnout. The summer school is an annual tradition of LJZA, the aim of which is to support Latvian young researchers by offering informative lectures that help to start and build a scientific and academic career. This event provides an opportunity to strengthen the community of young researchers and promote cooperation between researchers of various fields in Latvia and the diaspora.
This year, former President of Latvia Egils Levits participated in the opening of the summer school. In his address, he encouraged us to be united, no matter how different the sectors represented by the participants are. And indeed - after a short time, for example, a linguist, a chemist and a biologist were talking at the same table, and the conversation went so smoothly, as if each had previously thought about the topic of the other's research.
