Seminar "Strengthening Security in Latvia and the Latgale Region: Types of Threats and Their Prevention"

About event
On Friday, February 21, from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, the second regional seminar "Strengthening Security in Latvia and the Latgale Region: Types of Threats and Their Prevention" will take place at Rezekne Academy of Technologies (Atbrīvošanas aleja 115, Room 124). This seminar, organized by researchers from Riga Stradins University (RSU), aims to bring together industry experts, policymakers, law enforcement officials, public and municipal employees, as well as representatives from non-governmental organizations, to discuss current security issues and find solutions for their mitigation.
Security Challenges in the Baltic Region
The current international security situation, including Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine, presents numerous significant internal and external threats to the security of the Baltic region. Latgale, being a strategically important region of Latvia, faces potentially higher challenges related to information space, migration, radicalization, and border security due to its borderland position.
Seminar Objectives and Discussion Topics
The seminar aims to foster discussions on opportunities to strengthen security and share the latest solutions that promote more effective protection against internal and external threats. Participants will have the chance to gain valuable experience, enhance their knowledge, and engage in discussions with industry professionals. During the event, RSU researchers and experts will discuss key types of threats and solutions in areas such as public security, political security, national defense, cybersecurity, and information security.
Participation in the seminar is free of charge; however, prior registration is required due to limited seating.
