This year, the European Night of Scientists will take place on Friday, September 27, providing an opportunity to get to know science up close, revealing the fascinating everyday life and diverse studies of researchers. Binding free events and activities will be held in 35 venues throughout Latvia. The extensive program can be viewed in one place on the science communication platform "researchLatvia" created by the Ministry of Education and Science.

“European Researchers' Night highlights the most significant and interesting achievements and inventions of Latvian scientists. It is a great opportunity for everyone – families with children, students, and science enthusiasts – to learn more about science through the eyes of researchers and gain inspiration for a career in science. The researcher’s mission is constant inquiry and the development of knowledge,” says Jānis Paiders, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science for Human Capital, Science, and Innovation Development.

This year's theme, "Get to Know Your Researcher!" emphasizes the role of scientists as guides who help uncover the sometimes-complex world of science and inspire professional careers in the field. Free activities for the whole family will be held in various cities of Latvia, including Rīga, Jelgava, Ventspils, Valmiera, Salaspils, Cēsis, Liepāja, Daugavpils, and other locations, opening the opportunity for the wider public to discover the world of science, regardless of age or interests. The European Researchers' Night experience will help everyone find their path in the maze of research and understand the importance of science in both globally and locally.

Curious visitors will be able to participate in various science shows, quizzes, experiments, discussions, tours, and other activities that will provide insight into the latest scientific achievements. This year’s event program promises to inspire not only current researchers but also those considering their first steps into the field of science. More information is available at the communication platform.

To ensure the best experience for each visitor, it is important to look at the program of the specific institutions before attending the event, as some activities may require pre-arranged groups due to space limitations or other factors.

The communication and science awareness campaign is implemented within the project No. 1.1.1.1/1/24/I/001 “More Efficient Implementation and Management of Latvia's Science Policy”.
