In an inspiring atmosphere, the Ministry of Education and Science launched its calendar and traveling exhibition "Research Latvia 2025". The interactive science calendar, available in both digital and traditional formats, showcases 12 of Latvia's leading scientific institutions and their researchers. Their outstanding achievements highlight Latvia's significant role in the European Research Area and on a global scale.

Latvian science stands out for its diversity, innovation, and international competitiveness. To promote closer dialogue between the research environment and society, the Ministry of Education and Science has created the Latvian science communication portal, researchLatvia. The brand's motto, "Zināšanu vērtība" (Value Through Knowledge), reflects two key elements – knowledge, which is the fundamental value of science and distinguishes it from other fields, and value, which symbolizes the goals and importance of Latvian science for society," comments Anna Leiškalne, acting deputy director for research at the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia.

The content of ResearchLatvia.gov.lv is created collectively by both the Ministry of Education and Science and scientists. ResearchLatvia, or Science for Latvia, facilitates interaction between various scientific fields and institutions, society and the academic community, business and culture, as well as the national and global scientific worlds. ResearchLatvia collects and reflects information on the latest scientific achievements, research, and initiatives, thereby inspiring and attracting new talent, promoting investments in science, and strengthening Latvia's position both in the European Research Area and globally," states A. Leiškalne.

The "Member of researchLatvia" recognition

  • The nut has a symbolic meaning – it represents connection and collaboration. Science is also based on the interconnection of various theories, ideas, and research, as well as the close collaboration of researchers to generate knowledge and solutions.
  • In addition, the function of the nut is to provide stability and security by strengthening connections. In scientific research, this is analogous to the process in which all elements must work in harmony and precisely, avoiding errors or instability that could jeopardize the quality of results. In this context, the nut becomes a symbol not only of scientific technique but also of its core values – precision, stability, and collaboration.
  • Nuts stand out for their adaptability – they can be used in various types of connections, according to specific needs. Similarly, science is flexible and dynamically responds to different situations, seeking and adjusting solutions to changing circumstances.
  • The nut as a metaphor can show how different types of knowledge are connected and integrated, leading to new understanding and discoveries. Just as the nut ensures the connection and stable operation of systems, scientific institutions are the fundamental basis that ties everything together – from theoretical research to practical innovations.
The science calendar has been developed as part of the project No. 1.1.1.1/1/24/I/001 "More Effective and Smarter Implementation and Management of Latvian Science Policy" implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science.
